Transfer notes

How a purchase works

What happens after you agree a price, for .uk names and for other extensions.

.uk names, including .co.uk and .org.uk

Nominet transfers by a registrar push or an IPS tag change. You tell us the tag of the registrar that will receive the name. There is no auth code. Once payment has cleared this is usually the same day.

.com, .net, .org and other gTLDs

We provide an auth code to your registrar after payment clears. The gaining registrar starts the transfer, which usually takes five to seven days. A name registered or transferred in the last 60 days can be locked by the registry. A push inside the same registrar is sometimes quicker.

After payment

Registrant details are updated once the transfer completes. You take on renewal fees from then. The price buys the domain name only, unless we agree something else in writing.

Card checkout on this website is switched off. We confirm payment in writing. Where the price is at or above the escrow threshold, an escrow service can be used and the buyer pays that fee unless we agree to split it.
